Punta Cana is the prettiest resort area in what is one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful islands: The Dominican Republic. Gorgeous, long white sand beaches stretch for miles along gently sloping shores that give way into warm, blue seas. The Dominican Republic’s east coast, which is made up of Punta Cana and Bavaro is easily the most picturesque resort area of the island. The resorts are primarily European, offering a wide range of dining options, professional entertainment and animation teams and non-stop daily activities, entertainment and beach and water sports. There is little reason to leave the vast resort complexes which, by law, are never taller than the Coconut trees that lend this area its nickname, the coconut coast.
If you do leave the resort, you’ll find some fabulous golf courses nearby, horseback riding and, of course, the lively sunset merengue cruises that set sail each evening from the beaches.
